Cassini Theme

Studio Notes

The Cassini Theme was composed on the night that Cassini plummeted into Saturn at the end of its multi-decade mission, the theme is like a swan song of the probe as it was given its final instructions to descend into the planet and self destruct in the process. In dedication to the Cassini-Huygens team.

Composed in tribute having had the honour of being in touch with Candy Hansen, the Cassini mission coordinator also of Voyager fame, who had also taken on the Juno mission to Jupiter โ€œscience in a fishbowlโ€ project after retirement.

We had a few emails exchanged in passing while sorting out release forms for the Juno artwork I had contributed for the Juno Citizen Science documentary.

This piece uses the actual melody line derived from the signals that the Cassini magnetometer picked up from Saturn – you will hear it superimposed at the end.

Equipment used

  • Composed and produced on an Apple iPad Pro with Garageband.
  • Mastered by Cliff Anderson, Silicon Valley USA (a good friend, Deathy)
