BPQMail Extended Help File

To help with new users, the default help provided by BPQMail can be somewhat insufficient, so here is one I authored myself that you may use as a template for your own. Edit as necessary.

Place the text into help.txt located in the main BPQ32/LinBPQ directory – Note: the file name is case sensitive and it may not already exist and have to be created.

PE1RRR's BBS Helpfile

Navigation:

   A               - Abort Output
   BYE             - Bye/Logoff (B)
   NODE            - Return to Node
   INFO            - Display information about this BBS


Lookup:

   I <call>        - Lookup <call> in WP.
                     Allows *CALL CALL* *CALL* wildcards
   I@ <bbs>        - Lookup @BBS in WP
   IZ <zipcode>    - Lookup Zip Codes in WP
   IH <h-address>  - Lookup HA elements in WP - eg .USA .EU etc


Messaging:

 Listing Messages

    L               - List New Messages
    LC              - List Topics/TO fields of all active bulletins
    LR              - List New Messages Reversed (Oldest first)
    LM              - List Mine
    LMN             - List Mine New
    LMO             - List Mine Old
    LL <num#>       - List Last #number of Messages
    L <num#> <num#> - List Range between message #numbers

 List Sorting:
 
    L> <call>       - Sort via TO <callsign>
    L< <call>       - Sort via FROM <callsign>
    L@ <call>       - Sort via AT <area/callsign>

 List messages with corresponding status:

    LN              - Unread
    LY              - Read
    LH              - Held for review
    LK              - Killed
    LF              - Forwarded 
    L$              - Queued for Forwarding
    LD              - NTS has been Delivered 

 List Mesaage with corresponding type

    L               - List New Messages
    LB              - List Bulletins
    LP              - List Personals

 Listing Tips:

    You can combine most selections, examples:

    LMP             - List Mine Personals,   
    LB< G8BPQ       - List all bulletins posted by G8BPQ

 Reading:
   
    R <message#>    - Read Message(s) 
    RM              - Read my new messages
    RMR             - Read my new messages, oldest first

 Sending:

    SP <to>         - Send Personal
    SB <to@at>      - Send Bulletin
    SR <message#>   - Send Reply (as Personal)
    SC <message#>   - Send Copy (as Personal)

 Deleting:

    K <message#>    - Kill message(s)
    KM              - Kill my read messages)
    K< <from>       - Kill all from <callsign>
    K> <to>         - Kill all to <callsign>

 Network Traffic System specific:

    ST <zipcode#>   - Send NTS 
    D <message#>    - Flag NTS Message(s) as Delivered
    LT              - List NTS Messages


BBS Settings:

    N <name>        - Set your name
    HomeBBS         - Display, set or get HomeBBS
    PASS <password> - Set BBS Password (for webmail login)
    OP <n#>         - Set Page Length (Output will pause every <n#>)
    Q <location>    - Set your QTH / location
    X               - Toggle Expert Mode

 Winlink Specific Settings:

 CMSPASS <password> - Set & store your Winlink password
           POLLRMS  - Manage Polling for messages from RMS 

 Winlink Tips:

   Sending an email - SP RMS:<callsign>@email.domain


File Server:

    FILES           - List files available for download
    YAPP            - Download file using YAPP protocol
    READ <filename> - Read file as text

 File Server Tips:

   This is only a simple file server and does not support
   subdirectories.

   YAPP requires a client that supports it, such as QtTermTCP
   and EasyTerm by UZ7HO. There are a huge range of DOS clients
   that support YAPP.
