Vlog: Chaamse Bos – Autumn 2018 – Sentinel

Chilly weather, the last of the sunshine as 2018 makes its departure into the winter. This video was shot on a DJI Spark piloted manually and edited in Luma Fusion on the iPad. The music is by Mike Oldfield from his Tubular Bells II, an album I absolutely love.

The area is the remains of a filled-in outdoor swimming facility that shut down many years ago, nature has taken over the concrete and a natural pond has formed in the shallow remains of the swimming pools. It is, as you will see- quite lovely.

Vlog: Leemputten – Memory of the Trees

Featuring a track by Enya, this was my first drone video created using a DJI Spark and preprogrammed flight paths. The video was first created in DJI’s own tool but then it broke, so I had to remake it in Luma Fusion and this is the result.

It’s not perfect but having this type of visual memory helped to keep us sane during our own self-isolation lockdown in 2019 due to Ilona’s cancer treatment. Sometimes memories are really fragile, so its good to have a way to preserve and refresh them!

Update 2018: Eindhoven Airport Building Collapse

Eindhoven Airport Building Collapse

Update 2018

The partially collapsed building has now been completely torn down and another, bigger building exactly the same building but without the epic construction fault has been scheduled to be constructed in its place with an estimated completion date around October 2019.

The damage to the partially collapsed building came to about €22,000,000 (About $25 million US dollars). I am glad it is all sorted out now and look forward to seeing what the airport looks like later in 2019.

Blog – Eindhoven Airport Building Collapse

History

This story has been updated with several new blog posts with new developments.

During the time we spent at the airport there had also been the construction of a new multipurpose building that included several stories of car parking. The building was almost complete and ready to open when a large portion of it suddenly collapsed.

Luckily, the collapse happened on the one day we weren’t there. We had been at the airport every day but one that exact week doing out photo experiments. Thankfully, nobody was injured.
